PSA: That cheap pruning sealer from the hardware store cost me 3 mature oaks

I lost about $800 worth of trees on a client's property in North Carolina last spring. Used that spray-on pruning sealant on some big cuts, thought I was doing the right thing. Turns out it trapped moisture inside and led to rot that spread down the trunks. Had to remove all three. Anyone else had bad results with that stuff?

Stopped using sealant last year myself, learned that lesson the hard way.

lol yeah that stuff is basically tree poison in a can. I bet the guy who invented it was like "hey let's make something that guarantees repeat customers

Yeah, I sealed a wound once and the tree sealed my fate right back at me.
