PSA: Skip the tree wrap on new maples, it does more harm than good.

After I lost 3 out of 5 Norway maples I planted last April because bark beetles hid under the wrap, I realized leaving trunks bare and painting with latex works way better, anyone else ditch the burlap?

Wait, where do you live that moisture is an issue under paint?

Huh, I've had the opposite experience. Latex paint always seems to trap moisture against the bark and cause rot here.
