My kid asked why we cut down a 'sick' maple in their schoolyard
I explained it was to keep the other trees and kids safe, and they just said, 'So you're a tree doctor who does surgery?' It hit me that framing it as tree healthcare, not just removal, makes the job way easier for the public to get. Anyone else have a simple phrase that changed how you talk about the work?

Yeah, calling it "tree surgery" totally changed how my neighbors see what I do.

Totally get what you mean about "tree surgery" changing the vibe, @jordanc32. That kind of specific language makes the work sound skilled and serious, not just random yard work. It's a smart move that makes people take notice.

That "tree surgery" line is a good one. I've had people call me a tree killer to my face. Now I just say I'm doing an amputation before the infection spreads. Puts it in terms they get. It's all about finding the right words so they see the why, not just the chainsaw.
