My climbing line got a nasty core shot on a big oak removal
It happened last Thursday while I was descending after a top cut on a 70-foot pin oak. The rope must have rubbed against a sharp stub I missed. I felt that awful 'pffft' through my gloves and saw the white core poking through. I had to switch to my secondary line to finish the job, which really slowed me down. I'm looking at splicing a new section, but the rope is pretty worn in other spots too. Has anyone had good luck with a specific brand for a tough, all-around climbing line that resists this kind of damage?

Core shots happen, but worn rope needs full replacement.

My buddy's rope looked fine but the core was totally shredded, scary stuff.

Ugh, that sound is the worst. Had a similar thing happen on a maple last month, total bummer. My old line was just done for, had to replace the whole thing.
