Burp suite failed me during a pentest demo in Dallas

Ngl, I was mid-demo for a client in Dallas and the scanner missed a reflected XSS that my intern found manually with a curl command. Has anyone else had a tool miss obvious stuff live while the free/open source alternative saves the day?
