Wasted $180 on a cheap control board for a Samsung fridge last month
I tried saving money on a used board off eBay for a RF263 model and it died after 3 days. Ended up spending the real money on a new one anyway plus lost a Saturday driving back and forth to the customer's house. Anyone else get burned trying to cut corners on parts?

Magic smoke" is the worst. That's always how the cheap ones die too.

What kind of idiot drops nearly 200 bucks on something that dies in three days? Oh wait, that's me. I did the same thing with a dryer control board last year, bought a "tested good" one off eBay and it fried itself on the first load. Lesson learned the hard way - you save a few bucks now but end up paying double when you have to redo the whole job. My wife still brings it up every time the dryer acts up, like "remember when you thought you were being smart?" Yeah, thanks honey.

Dude, I feel your pain so hard it hurts. I dropped $150 on a "like new" PS4 power supply off eBay and it lasted exactly long enough to boot up and then let out the magic smoke. My girlfriend still calls it "the expensive lesson" whenever I try to save a few bucks on anything. The worst part is you sit there holding the dead part thinking "well, maybe I can fix this one too" and just end up deeper in the hole. But hey, at least we're saving money by learning the hard way, right? Right?
