Tried a $9 aftermarket part on a dryer and it ate the belt in 3 weeks
A customer's dryer was squealing back in May, and instead of ordering the OEM idler pulley for $38, I grabbed a $9 one off a parts site to save him some money. It fit fine and ran quiet, so I felt pretty good about it. Three weeks later he calls me back, the belt had shredded because the cheap pulley wobbled and chewed the edge. I ate the cost of the belt and the OEM pulley to make it right, which wiped out what he saved plus some. Lesson learned, but I'm curious if anyone here has found a brand of aftermarket rollers or pulleys that actually holds up.
