TIL the hard way not to take repair advice from a YouTube commenter named Dave07.
He told me to bypass the thermal fuse on my dryer with a paperclip to "save $10", and after my load of jeans came out smoking hot enough to singe my eyebrows off, I had to replace the entire heating element and the belt drive too, has anyone else ignored bad advice and paid for it?

Dave07 was just trying to help, it's on you for trusting a random comment.

Nah, I get what you're saying but I've been in that spot before. I tried a cleaning hack from some random forum for my old washing machine and it actually worked great for months. Then one day it just stopped draining and I had to call a guy out. He told me the hack was fine but I probably overdid it with the vinegar. So yeah, trusting a stranger can bite you, but the real issue is people need to stop acting like every online tip works for every model or situation. Dave07 meant well, but nobody should treat forum advice like it's a manual from the factory.

But like, if you're gonna blindly follow some rando's hack without double checking if it's even safe, isn't that kinda on you too lol? I mean Dave07 isn't exactly a certified appliance technician.
