Spent a whole day chasing a weird hum in a 90s Maytag washer

It was this old top loader from 1996, and the noise only happened on the spin cycle. I checked the motor, the belt, even the tub bearings, which all seemed fine. Turns out it was a tiny piece of a kid's plastic toy wedged between the inner and outer tub, rattling around at high speed. Took me about 7 hours to finally spot it. Anyone else ever get fooled by a simple foreign object making a weird noise?
