Saw a ton of dryers with clogged vents at a storage unit auction last weekend
Down in Waco, we cleared out a bunch of storage units for auction and every single dryer in there had lint caked so bad you could barely see the heating element. One guy had put a wire hanger through the vent screen to try and clear it out, made a mess of the drum. It got me thinking, do you all ever see this kind of negligence in rentals or flips you work on? Has anyone else run into a dryer so packed it was basically a fire hazard waiting to happen?

Oh man, you just described like half the flips I've walked through in the last year. It's almost like people think the lint trap is just a suggestion, not a critical safety feature. I swear, one time I opened a dryer and the lint was so thick it looked like a sheep exploded inside there. Your mileage may vary, but I'd say a good 60% of used dryers I see are basically one spark away from turning the whole laundry room into a bonfire. And those wire hanger repairs, yeah, I've seen that too, always makes me wonder what other 'fixes' they tried before giving up. Honestly, it's a miracle more houses don't burn down from this stuff.

Have you ever opened up a dryer and found a family of socks living in there? I swear, I pulled out a load of laundry once and found a whole crew sock that had somehow migrated through the vent. Guess they were just looking for a new home, but your mileage may vary on that one.
