Found out 60% of calls I get are just burned-out start capacitors on compressors

Ran the numbers from my truck log in Cleveland over the last 3 months and it was 47 out of 78 jobs where the cap was shot, has anyone else seen that ratio hold up in their area?

So you're telling me 60 percent in Cleveland and close to that in Pittsburgh... do you think it's just the humidity and temperature swings killing these things faster up here in the rust belt or is it more about cheap manufacturing these days? I've been swapping out so many caps that are only a year or two old, and I remember when they'd last 5 to 7 years easy. Makes me wonder if we're just getting stuck with junk parts from the supply houses or if the compressors themselves are pulling more amps and burning them out quicker. Either way it's getting old digging through my truck for a spare 35/5 on every other call...

Pretty close to what I see in Pittsburgh honestly.

Man, tell me about it. I swapped out a cap on a unit last week that was dated 2022 and the top was already bulging like a muffin. I swear they're pumping these things out with half the copper foil they used to.
