Finally figured out a Samsung ice maker issue that had me pulling my hair out

I was at a supply house in Phoenix last week picking up parts and this old timer overheard me complaining about a Samsung fridge that kept freezing over the ice maker. He told me to check the door seal alignment with a dollar bill test instead of just looking at it visually. I went back to the job, did the test, and found the seal was pulling away on one side near the hinge. Realigned the door and the ice maker hasn't iced up in 3 days now. Has anyone else had luck with the dollar bill trick on tricky fridge seals?

Pulled a fridge away from the wall once and found the same thing causing ice buildup. Simple fix that worked great.

Doubt a simple fix like that would hold up long term though. Those coils need a proper cleaning with a brush and compressed air to get all the dust and dirt out. Just pulling it away from the wall might fix the symptom but not the real problem.
