Customer told me her dryer 'just needed a rest' and honestly I almost believed her
She said her 12 year old Whirlpool stopped mid cycle last Tuesday, sat unplugged for two days, then ran fine, and I had to explain that thermal fuse she overheard me mention probably just reset itself, so now I'm wondering how many service calls I've been on where the fix was literally nothing and the machine just needed a break?
Seriously, half my calls are probably just machines that fixed themselves while I was driving over. Had a guy last month swear his washer was dead, I get there, he'd already unplugged it for a day, and it ran perfect. Told him it was the control board cooling off and he acted like I was a wizard. I still charged him the trip fee, don't get me wrong. I've quit telling people their machine is fine and just say I "reset the sensors" so they feel like they got their money's worth.
