Been trying to fix a fridge that keeps icing up inside

I got a call from a guy in St. Louis last Tuesday about his fridge freezing everything in the crisper drawers. Checked the defrost timer and heater, both looked fine... turns out the door gasket was letting warm air sneak in. I replaced it but now the thing is still frosting up around the fan. Anyone run into a fridge that acts like the defrost system is shot but the real issue is something else?

Yeah, the defrost system looking fine but still frosting up" - that's exactly what happened to me on a Frigidaire last month. Turned out the drain tube was clogged with a mix of ice and gunk, and the water was backing up and freezing around the fan instead of draining out. I'd check that drain line and make sure it's clear, especially if you already swapped the gasket and it's still acting up.

Peeked behind the back panel and found the drain pan was cracked, letting moisture build up inside and freeze. Taped it up with some heavy-duty foil tape and it solved the problem for me. Worth a look if nothing else checks out.

Have you tried just sticking your head in there and yelling at it like I do with mine? I once spent an hour testing a defrost board on a perfectly fine fridge only to find my kid had shoved a juice box down the drain vent.
