Picked the local plumber over the big chain and saved $180 on a Tuesday job
Had a slab leak under the kitchen in my place near Eubank and Central a couple weeks ago. Got quotes from one of those big name chains and from a guy named Manny who runs a two truck shop off Menaul. The chain wanted $640 plus a $89 "diagnostic" fee, Manny came out same day and did it for $460 flat. He showed me the old pipe section before he tossed it and even swept up the drywall dust. Anyone got a go to for HVAC around here, because I'm done rolling the dice on the big outfits.

Wait, Manny fixed a slab leak for $460 flat, that's cheap but slab leaks usually need tunneling or rerouting, not just a pipe swap.

Had one under my old house years back and the guy just cut the line and ran new pipe through the attic. Cost me around $500 and never had a problem again. Worked fine for the 6 years I lived there, so Manny might have just rerouted it instead of digging up the slab.
