Wired a panel backwards in a rush, took 3 hours to figure out why
Last month I was finishing a retrofit in a basement in Columbus and the keypad kept flashing error 4 no matter what I did. I checked the zone wiring twice, even swapped the panel, and still nothing. Turned out I had the EOL resistor on the wrong side of the zone, I put it after the sensor instead of before. The customer was standing right there asking if it was almost done, so I felt like an idiot. Now I double check every resistor before I screw the panel lid on. Has anyone else made a simple wiring mistake that cost them way more time than it should have?
Every single time I rush the little stuff it comes back to bite me too. Three hours for one resistor is brutal but honestly it's the same reason I always put my keys in the same spot now, the dumb little things are always the ones that wreck your day.
