Tired of panel batteries dying in 2 years when they used to last 5+

Maybe it's just me, but I've had three residential jobs this month where the backup battery was dead after only 28 months. Back in 2017 when I started doing installs in Cleveland, I could count on the old sealed lead acid ones going 5 years easy before I'd recommend swapping them. Now it feels like the charging circuits on the boards are cooking them, or the cheap batteries we get from distributors are just garbage. I test every install with a load meter and even then I'm seeing voltage drop under 12V way too fast. Is anyone else tracking this trend or am I just getting unlucky with the batch I bought last year? I've been thinking about switching to lithium replacements but the price difference is steep for clients who already complain about monitoring fees. What's your go-to fix when you see a panel eating batteries every other year?
