That 'quick fix' alarm panel advice from a supply house rep screwed me over
Guy at the counter in Phoenix told me to just zip-tie the backup battery leads to the panel frame to save time, said it was fine for temp setups. Woke up to a ground fault call 2 weeks later and had to redo the whole board on a Saturday. Any other installers had a rep give advice that came back to bite them?

Man, I gotta push back on this one. That rep didn't screw you over, you screwed yourself by taking a zip-tie shortcut and calling it a temp setup. You knew the rules, you knew ground faults are a thing, but you wanted to save 20 minutes on a Friday. The rep told you what you wanted to hear, not what was code. I've had reps tell me to use duct tape on a temp sensor mount and I still checked the manual first. Two weeks later you're mad at him, but your customer is the one who paid for your Saturday redo. Maybe next time, just do the job right the first time and don't blame the guy behind the counter for your own call.
