Reading an old industry report, I found out most false alarms come from user error, not equipment failure.

The stat was in a 2022 study from the Security Industry Association, and it said over 80% of calls were from folks not knowing their codes or pets. That makes me wonder if we should push harder for better customer training during installs, or just accept it as part of the job. What's your take on reducing those calls?

My neighbor set his off three times last month because his cat jumps on the sensor bar at 3am. I told him about putting the motion detector on pet immune mode but he said the installer never showed him that setting.

Man, that stat hits close to home. I once set off my own system trying to remember if my code was my birthday or my anniversary, a real genius move. Honestly, a five minute walkthrough during install showing folks how to test the keypad and handle pets would probably cut those calls in half.

You're right about the walkthrough, @ray_miller41, but most installers already do that quick demo.
