Rant: Saw a brand new panel zip-tied to a fence post in Amarillo, no box, no nothing
Was out in Amarillo doing a service call for a restaurant chain, and on the way I passed this little strip mall where someone had mounted a fresh alarm panel right on a wooden fence post out back by the dumpsters. No enclosure, no conduit, just the board hanging there with two zip ties and a wad of electrical tape over the wiring. I pulled over and snapped a couple pics because I honestly could not believe it. The backup battery was sitting on top of the post like a coaster, and you could see the keypad dangling by its own wires. I have been doing installs for 14 years and I have seen some hack work, but this one is top three for sure. If a good rain rolled through, that thing would be toast, and the owner probably thinks they are covered. I get it, some folks take the cheap bid, but come on. Has anyone else run into a panel mounted somewhere this dumb, and did you try to tell the owner or just keep driving?
