Overheard a customer tell his wife we 'just screw stuff to walls'
Was doing a commercial install at a dental office last Tuesday and this guy in the waiting room says to his wife, 'These guys just screw stuff to walls, I could do that.' I took a deep breath and kept running my wire through a finished ceiling. Has anyone else had to hold their tongue when someone totally minimizes what we actually do on a job?

I had a guy at a retirement home last spring watch me pull 250 feet of cat6 through a conduit that had three 90 degree bends in it. After about five minutes he goes "so you're just running string, right?" I wanted to say something but I just nodded and kept at it. What finally worked for me was bringing him over later and letting him try to push a fish tape through a tricky spot. He got it stuck after two feet and I think that shut him up pretty good. Sometimes showing them is way better than telling them.

My buddy who does residential electrical told me about the time he was running new circuits in a house and the homeowner watched him for like 10 minutes and then said "so you just pull wires through walls, that doesn't seem that hard." Meanwhile my buddy had just spent 2 hours crawling through an attic in 100 degree heat to fish those wires down. He said he just smiled and said "yep, pretty much" but was dying inside.
