Noticed a big shift in how customers react to glass break detectors over the last 8 years

I've been installing alarms since 2012. Back then people would ask about glass break detectors maybe once every 20 jobs. Now its maybe every 3 or 4 jobs. Last Tuesday a customer specifically asked for them on every window after watching a home security video on TikTok. Has anyone else seen this change happen and what do you think caused it? For me I think its the Ring doorbell effect making everyone feel like they need full coverage.

Watched a buddy's place get broken into back in 2017 and the glass break never even triggered because the guy used a key. Always thought they were overkill after that. But then I saw a video of a smash and grab where the detector caught the sound of the glass shattering in the room next door and that changed my whole view. Now I tell people I install for that if they have big windows or sliding glass doors you bet I recommend them. The Ring doorbell thing definitely made everyone suddenly security conscious though, people see one video and suddenly they want a full system overnight.

Cooper.phoenix I get where you're coming from but I think folks are overthinking this. TikTok and Ring made everyone paranoid about every possible hole in their security. Before that people just locked their doors and went about their day. Now we got customers wanting glass break detectors on windows that face a brick wall three feet away. Seems like we traded common sense for checklist security.
