Had a DSC panel die on me last Tuesday during a routine battery swap
The customer's system was working fine before I touched it, swapped the old battery for a fresh one, and then nothing not a single light or beep what do you use when a board just gives up on you mid job like that?

Hang on, a full five minutes? That feels like an eternity when you're standing there with a dead board in your hands.

Had something real similar with a PowerSeries board a few years back (swapped a battery and got the exact same black screen of death). I pulled the transformer off the AC terminals for a full 5 minutes to let everything drain down, then reconnected it first before even touching the battery. That got it to chirp back to life. If that doesn't work, check the fuse on the board (they pop sometimes from dead battery shorts) - a cheap multimeter check can save you from swapping the whole panel.
