Got my first solo install done in Spokane today, a simple DSC panel for a small office

It was just a basic setup with three contacts and a keypad, but the owner shook my hand and said he felt safer already. Anyone else get that quiet satisfaction from a clean, straightforward job?

Congrats on not tripping the fire alarm or drilling through a water pipe. That handshake probably felt better than the check will, am I right? But seriously, three contacts and a keypad? Don't spend that all in one place. Next thing you know they'll want a camera system and suddenly you're running Cat6 in a drop ceiling full of asbestos. Just remember, the clean ones make up for the jobs where the customer "moved the desk since you quoted it" and now everything is backwards. Hope you got pictures for your portfolio.

Are you saying a small job can't be just as satisfying as a big one, @max_ross? I've had three-contact jobs pay better per hour than some full system installs because there was no headache involved. Sometimes the simple clean ones are the best days.
