Found out UL listings change every 3 years
Was reading the fine print on a DSC panel manual last night. Noticed their fire alarm listing expired in 2022. How often do you guys re-check certifications on your gear?

Pretty wild that nobody checks this stuff more often, right? Actually had a similar scare last year when I was looking at an old Vista panel at a job site and noticed the UL stamp was dated 2019. Are you guys actually pulling up the current UL database to verify, or just taking the manufacturer's word that they've kept up with recertifications? Because I feel like there's a big difference between "this model was listed once" and "this specific unit with this serial number is still within its certification window.

Hang on, you reminded me, did UL ever settle that whole thing with the counterfeit stickers from 2017?

Honestly I think people make way too big a deal out of the counterfeit sticker thing. If the equipment works and passed inspection on site, who cares if the sticker was faked? UL is just a private company charging fees, not some government agency. I've seen plenty of legit UL listed gear fail in the field anyway. The whole certification system is more about liability protection for manufacturers than actual safety.
