Vent: That $200 torque wrench calibration was a total waste for my shop

I sent our main Snap-on wrench out for calibration at a place in Tampa, cost me over $200 with shipping. It came back with a certificate but failed our own check with the gauge block within a month. Some guys say you always need the official paper trail for audits, others say a solid in-house check with known good equipment is just as safe and way cheaper. Has anyone else had a calibration service let them down like this?

Our audit last year only checked the paper, not the wrench itself.

We had the same issue with our safety audit in Tulsa.

Can you believe they charged us for that?
