Torque wrench calibration sticker peeled off overnight

I caught a guy using a 3/8 snap-on torque wrench from the community toolbox that had a calibration tag dated 14 months ago, the sticker was half gone and he said he didn't think it mattered. We torqued a wheel bearing to spec later that shift and the fastener was way over, could've ruined the hub before we caught it in the test run. How do you guys handle unlabeled or expired torque tools when they show up in the shared kit, do you pull them or just retag them yourselves?

Did he grab it from the shared box because nobody flagged it, or does your shop just not check tags at all?
