That water leak at PDX last week convinced me to stop skipping corrosion checks on lav drains

I figured a little seepage was no big deal until I saw the honeycomb panel delamination under a galley cart. Has anyone else found weird damage from what seemed like a tiny drip?

Actually tiny drips can hide inside insulation for months before you even see the stain.

That insulation really acts like a sponge once it gets wet. Had a drip from a coffee maker once that caused enough hidden corrosion to fail a torque check on a seat track fitting. Nobody saw anything until we pulled the sidewall panel.

Buddy of mine had a similar issue on a 737. Leaky lavatory drain kept dripping on a bundle of wires behind the sidewall. Took three months and a random smell complaint before anyone found it.
