That time a supervisor at LAX tried to rush me through a lavatory servicing

I get why people want to move fast on the line, especially with tight turnarounds. But at LAX last March, a lead pushed me to skip the final pressure check on a 737 lav system because the departure was already delayed. I stood my ground and ran the cycle anyway, and guess what? Found a cracked drain valve that would have sprayed blue stuff everywhere at 30,000 feet. Everyone else in the crew thought I was being slow, but I'd rather be the one who catches something on the ground than explains a biohazard spill to the captain later. Has anyone else had a similar standoff with a supervisor who wanted to cut corners on something like this?

Did you at least get a "nice job" after proving you were right, or did they just shrug and move on like nothing happened?

That cracked drain valve you found reminds me of the time I was servicing a lav and the suction hose blew a gasket right as I finished. Perfect timing. Anna, to answer your question, I did get a "nice job" actually. The lead grumbled something under his breath and walked off, but the captain came down a few minutes later and shook my hand. It felt like a hollow victory though, because I spent the next two months being known as the slow guy on the crew. Better slow and dry than fast and covered in blue fluid though.
