Spent 9 hours over 3 days chasing an intermittent APU fault that turned out to be a chafed wire behind a clamp I'd looked at twice

Did you actually verify the wire was bad with a meter, or just assume it once you saw the chafe? Sometimes a rubbed spot looks guilty but the real problem is a loose pin somewhere else.
