Showerthought: A pilot once asked me if I 'just turned wrenches' during a pre-flight check in Phoenix
We were looking at a flap actuator on a King Air, and he made a comment about how my job must be simple. I explained the whole troubleshooting process for that specific hydraulic system, which took about fifteen minutes. He just stared at his checklist and said 'huh' before walking off. Anyone else get that kind of talk from flight crew?

Guess my job is just turning wrenches until their plane won't start, right?

Honestly, pilots probably just want the quick version, not a full lecture.

What if the quick version is just me pointing at the plane and shrugging? My detailed explanations are basically a sleep aid anyway.
