Old timer at Indy airport told me my safety wire was all wrong
Guy had 30 years at Delta and watched me finish a prop governor. He said my twists were too loose and I'd get a fine if a QA inspector saw it. I switched to 12 twists per inch and started using a tension gauge. Has anyone else had an old head give advice that totally changed their standard practice?

That tension gauge tip is gold, most guys just eyeball it and hope for the best.

I mean, is a loose safety wire really gonna bring down the whole plane?

Honestly, people act like safety wire is brain surgery. I've seen guys with loose twists make it just fine for years.
