Finally got my IA after three years of night classes

Took my oral and practical last week at the FSDO in Cleveland, and the examiner asked me to walk through a 100-hour inspection on a Cessna 172. I was nervous, but having my own tool roll from the shop helped me focus. Anyone else get their IA recently and have tips for the first year?

Heard about a buddy who got his IA last fall and his first job was a pre-buy on an old Mooney. He said he spent like two hours just on the logbooks before he even touched the plane, found some sketchy entries from the 90s. Totally threw off his whole schedule but he said it was the best lesson, to always check the paperwork twice. Kinda makes the 100-hour on a 172 sound relaxing.

C'mon, two hours looking at logbooks is kinda standard stuff, not that big a deal.

My first annual was on a Piper Cub.
