Dropped $85 on a Borescope From Harbor Freight and It Caught a Crack the Shop Missed
Bought an $85 borescope last month after a buddy in Phoenix kept nagging me to get one, and it paid for itself on the very first turbine inspection when I spotted a cracked blade the regular visual check glossed over. Told my lead about it and he pulled the borescope port again with the real shop camera, and yeah, it was there. So what's the cheapest tool you've bought that ended up saving your tail on a sign-off?
That crack the shop missed line is what gets me, my buddy had almost the same thing happen with a $40 Amazon cam on his truck turbo. He caught a bent fin that the eye just slides right past and saved himself a roadside disaster.
