Caught a cracked alternator bracket on a 172 during a prebuy last Tuesday
Was doing a prebuy on a 1978 Cessna 172N out at KAPA and found the alternator bracket cracked almost clean through. Owner said it flew fine last weekend so he thought I was nitpicking, but that thing was maybe one good bump from letting go. Pulled the part number off it and had a new one in by Thursday. Anyone else seeing these crack more on the older airframes, or was this just a fluke?
