A lead inspector's joke made me rethink my whole torque routine

Last Tuesday in the hangar at DFW, this old lead I work with saw me double checking a torque wrench. He said 'you trust that thing more than you trust yourself, huh?' Funny thing is, he was right. I spent 10 minutes fussing with calibration charts on a simple 40 ft-lb job. Now I check my grip and stance first, then the tool. Anyone else catch themselves overthinking the basics after a long stretch of nights?
