My neighbor in Phoenix said air fryers are just tiny ovens and not worth the hype

She told me this while I was showing her my perfectly crispy Brussels sprouts from my Cosori, which only took 12 minutes. I argued that the rapid air circulation makes a huge difference for texture and speed on so many foods. What's your take, is an air fryer a game-changer or just a countertop convection oven?

Your neighbor is technically right, but she's missing the point completely. It's a tiny oven that works way faster and makes things way crispier than my big oven ever did. The hype is for people who actually like eating good food without waiting an hour.

Honestly it's just a small oven. Are we really getting this worked up over kitchen gadgets now?

Yeah, it's a tiny oven. A tiny oven that doesn't heat up my whole kitchen in the summer and cooks frozen fries in 15 minutes. My big oven takes twice as long and never gets them as crispy. For reheating pizza or making chicken wings, it's a total game changer. The size and speed are the whole point.
