My buddy the chef told me to stop crowding the basket and it finally clicked
Was over at my friend Marco's place last week, he runs the line at a busy spot downtown. He watched me dump a whole bag of frozen Brussels sprouts in my air fryer and just shook his head. Said I was basically steaming them instead of getting that crispy edge because there was no room for the air to move. Tried it his way last night with just a single layer and a little spray of oil, they came out way better in 12 minutes flat. Anybody else have a simple cooking rule they ignored for way too long?

Took me way too long to learn that one too. The air fryer works best when you give stuff room to breathe. Single layer everything now and the texture is totally different.

Hmm, I'm gonna push back a little. I actually cram my air fryer full all the time and stuff still comes out crispy. Like I'll toss frozen fries in there piled up high, shake em halfway through, and they're never soggy. Maybe it depends on the model or what you're cooking, but idk, I've never noticed a huge difference with spacing stuff out.
