I thought air fryer french toast was a dumb idea until last Sunday

My partner wanted to try it from a video and I was sure it would be a soggy mess. We used thick Texas toast, soaked it in the usual egg mix for about 30 seconds, and put it in at 350 degrees. I was ready to say 'I told you so' but after 8 minutes, it came out perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. No flipping needed, and our kitchen stayed cool. The real test was my kid, who usually hates 'wet bread', and he ate three pieces. It completely changed my mind on what this thing can do for breakfast. Has anyone else tried a breakfast recipe they were sure would fail?

Is it really that big of a deal though? It's just french toast from a different appliance. I'm glad it worked out and your kid ate it, but we're talking about a minor kitchen experiment. People act like the air fryer is some magic box that changes food science. It's a small oven that blows air around. The real win here is getting a picky kid to eat something, not the machine itself.

Honestly, the part about the real win being a picky kid eating something? That hits home. Tbh, I've stood there with cold eggs and toast my kid refused to touch, feeling like a total failure. When you finally find something, anything, they'll actually eat, it's such a relief. It doesn't matter if it's from an air fryer, a regular pan, or the sun itself. That little victory is everything.

Totally get it, I was the same with air fryer pancakes. Charles_kelly43 has a point about the machine, but man, the surprise when something actually works is the best part.
