Debate: Is buying a cheap air fryer really worth it? I threw $50 down the drain

I picked up a no-name air fryer for about 50 bucks off some random website last month. Figured it would be a good deal since all the big brands cost way more. First week it worked okay but the heating was all over the place. By week two the timer knob fell off and food came out half raw or burnt. I tried using it for fries and they were soggy even after 20 minutes. Lost the whole $50 plus a couple bags of frozen food I ruined. So here's my question: Do you think it's better to save up for a solid brand like Cosori or Ninja, or is risking a cheap one worth it if you're on a tight budget?

Yeah nah hard skip. Save for a Ninja or Cosori. Cheap ones just waste your money twice.

Is it really that bad though? I've had a random off-brand air fryer from Amazon for like two years now and it still works fine. @the_laura I get that Ninja and Cosori are probably better but $30 vs $100 is a big difference for someone on a budget. Like maybe cheap ones are hit or miss but mine cooks frozen fries just as good as any I've tried.
