Vent: a demo bot at a Phoenix trade show grabbed my client's email and pitched them for 3 weeks
I was at a small AI expo in Phoenix last month and a booth was demoing their new chat agent, so I typed in a fake name but my real email to test it. Big mistake, because their system scraped it, and 3 weeks later my client got 11 auto emails selling them a $299 a month tool they never asked about. I emailed the founder directly and told him his agent was cold pitching from a live demo, and he pulled the bot offline that same day. Has anyone else had a demo agent go rogue and start selling on its own?
Did you ever find out if the bot was scraping emails the whole time or just that once? I had a similar thing happen with a hotel key kiosk that kept my info and mailed me junk for months.
