Last month I tried using AI to write my D&D campaign and it was a mess
Everyone keeps telling me AI tools are great for brainstorming creative stuff. Last month I fed my campaign notes into ChatGPT to generate some plot hooks for my group in Portland. It spat out generic fantasy tropes and even suggested a villain that copied my main NPC's name. I ended up scrapping everything and wrote it myself in two hours. Has anyone else found AI totally misses the mark for tabletop games?

My buddy tried this for his Cyberpunk Red game and it kept suggesting medieval fantasy stuff no matter how much he clarified the setting. He spent more time correcting the AI than just jotting down his own ideas. Ended up calling it a total waste of a Sunday afternoon.

How specific did you get with your prompts? I've found AI really struggles unless you give it super narrow constraints like "generate three side quests that involve abandoned temples in a desert." Maybe try feeding it your existing NPC names and a list of what you DON'T want.
