Hot take: letting AI write your emails is making you worse at your job, not better
Last month my team lead at a logistics company in Columbus rolled out an AI tool that drafts all our client emails, and after two weeks our reply rate dropped from 34% to 19%. I told her we should go back to writing them by hand, but she said the tool saves time so we're keeping it. The problem is it writes everything in this weird formal voice that clients can smell from a mile away, and you can't fix it without basically rewriting the whole thing anyway. I get that speed matters, but watching people swap a 10 minute honest email for a 2 minute robot one that gets ignored is not innovation to me. What's the point of a tool that makes you faster at getting worse results?
