The AI kept mixing up squirrel tails with pinecones and I finally found a fix
So I was messing around with DALL-E trying to get it to make a squirrel that's also a pine tree kinda thing for a t-shirt design. Every time I put in squirrel plus pinecone it would just draw a normal squirrel holding a pinecone or worse a pinecone with legs. After maybe 30 tries I threw in the words "tail transforms into" in the middle instead of just saying mixed with or hybrid and boom it actually made the tail look like pine branches with cones growing off it. Still weird but way closer to what I wanted. Anyone else had to mess with the wording order to get the AI to combine stuff right?

Yeah that reminds me, I spent an hour trying to get it to make a cat with moth wings and it kept giving me a cat wearing a moth costume.

The word order thing is huge in my experience. I had a similar issue trying to get it to make a snake that looked like it was made of tree roots. Telling it "snake made of roots" just gave me a normal snake with some roots draped over it. After about 20 fails I rewrote it as "roots growing into the shape of a snake" and that was the trick. The AI seems to latch onto whatever verb is closest to the main object. If you put "transforms into" or "grows from" in the middle it forces the AI to blend the two things together instead of just putting one next to the other. Also adding context like "all one continuous form" helps a ton. Your fix makes total sense to me and I saved your post for the next time I need to mash two things together.

Huh, did you try describing it as a "squirrel-pinecone hybrid" or something more specific?
