I miss when AI mashups were just weird for the sake of being weird

Back in 2022 when I first got into these, people were making stuff like a giraffe with octopus legs or a mailbox shaped like a duck. It was pure nonsense with no agenda. Now I feel like half the posts are trying to be clever satire or make some political point. Last week I saw one that was a blender combined with a voting booth and the caption was this long rant about election integrity. Like, can we just go back to making a penguin that's also a lamp? It's gotten so serious lately. Anyone else feel like the simple chaotic energy got lost somewhere around late 2023?

My neighbor just unironically said her toaster oven "lost its innocence" because it stopped making perfect toast. Everything has to have deep meaning now, even appliances.

Yeah, @the_holly has a point but I think the simpler mashups were more fun.
