Had to pick between a realistic AI dog-bread mix or a totally absurd one for a contest

I entered this AI mashup contest last month where you had to combine two random things, and I got stuck between making a golden retriever that looked like a loaf of sourdough or a pug that turned into a croissant. I mean, the dog-bread thing is super popular right now, but I figured the pug croissant would be funnier because pugs already have that scrunched-up face. So I went with the croissant pug, and honestly it came out looking more like a melted pastry with eyes, which was kinda hilarious. I shared it in the group and got like 40 comments, half laughing at how weird it was and half saying the sourdough retriever would've been better. What's the weirdest mashup you've tried that didn't turn out how you expected?
