Wasted $850 on a fancy contract review tool my agency didnt need
Last quarter I got sold on this AI contract review platform that promised to cut our review time in half. The sales demo was slick, showed all these fancy redline comparisons and risk flags. We signed up for the annual plan at $850 a month and spent two weeks training everyone on it. Turns out our actual legal work is mostly simple retainer agreements and vendor forms, not complex M&A stuff. The tool kept flagging normal clauses as risks and generating reports nobody read. After the third week I cancelled and went back to our old checklist method, which honestly works fine. We ate the setup fee and the unused month, about $1,700 total gone. Anyone else get burned by legal tech that solves a problem you didnt really have?

Used to be all about trying new tools but this is exactly why I stopped. Simple stuff just doesnt need the fancy version, learned that the expensive way too.
