Showerthought: The non-compete clause in my old agency contract was way too broad.
I was reviewing it after leaving my job in Austin, and it basically said I couldn't work in marketing anywhere in the state for two years. Has anyone else had to push back on something like that?

Did you talk to a lawyer about that? I had a similar clause in Texas and my lawyer basically laughed, said it was unenforceable. They told me courts here usually only care if you're going after the same clients.

What did your lawyer say about the non-solicit part? Mine in Illinois focused on that too, saying they can't stop you from working, just from trying to pull your old customers with you.

Unenforceable" is the best word a lawyer can say. Mine basically told me the same thing and I felt like I won the lottery.
