Question about indemnity clauses in subcontractor agreements after a $28k dispute

Tbh I just finished dealing with a nightmare in Phoenix where a subcontractor's work caused water damage and their contract only had a basic liability clause, not full indemnity. The property owner's lawyer came after us for the full $28k repair bill because we were the prime on the job. I found out our state's statute actually requires specific indemnity language for construction defects, which we missed. Has anyone else had to rework their sub contracts to match local laws, or do you just rely on insurance to cover this kind of gap?

Honestly, my lawyer calls my contracts the "oops, my bad" special after that same kind of mess.
