PSA: I used to handshake deal all my influencer contracts until a talent flaked on a $15k campaign last June.

Now I make sure every scope of work is signed before they even see the product. Has anyone else had a verbal agreement blow up on them like this?

Oh man, I learned this one the hard way too! I had a smaller deal fall through last year and now everyone signs a simple one-page agreement before I send anything out. Just grab a basic influencer contract template off the internet and tweak it for your rates and timeline, it saves so much headache.

Wait, you actually found a good basic contract template online? I read somewhere that most of those free templates miss stuff like kill fees and rights usage, and then people get burned later. I tried one once but it didn't have anything about what happens if the brand posts my content for months without extra payment. Seems like you gotta double check for specifics on payment schedules too, since some templates just say "upon completion" but don't break it down.
